Our hike from the town below at Aguas Calientes started at 3 am when it was still dark. We climbed up over a hundred stairs to get up to the entrance. As you can see from our sweaty faces, we made it to the entrance having adequately gotten enough cardio.
A map of Machu Picchu.
After being one of the first ones through the entrance that early morning, we darted to across the site to the entrance to Wayna Picchu where they would be handing out tickets for entrance to climb yet even higher.
Some of the early morning pictures we took while being the first ones in were the best pictures all day. The fog and morning atmosphere gives the place a really magical feeling.

This is how high up we really were. Candice and I made a joke that if ever we decided we wanted to kill ourselves, this would definitely be the way to go.
This is at the top of Wayna Picchu. Looking down you can see Machu Picchu as the dirt patch to the right with the zigzagging bus road to the left.
My favorite photo of me taken at Machu Picchu.
